For a supreme level of quality and craftsmanship, look no further than Swiss manufacturer de Sede. Steeped in history with an unwavering commitment to their craft and material, they’ve been producing superb leather furniture for over 50 years from their factory in Klingnau, Switzerland. It’s safe to say, de Sede are obsessed with creating the best leather furniture in the world.
de Sede starts with the selection of ‘the most beautiful, the best and the softest skins in the world’ from the young bulls of Swiss, South German, Scandinavian and Austrian provenance. According to de Sede, the bull skins are stronger and more stable than cow skins.
The leathers are processed on-site in a 15 step tanning process before being transformed into one of de Sede’s fine pieces of furniture. With master craftsman tending to the material from start to finish it’s a labour intensive process but one that clearly gets results!

These pieces are guaranteed to age beautifully. Part of de Sede’s product development testing includes the equivalent of three to five years of daylight exposure to ensure the leather is fade resistant to an extremely high level.
We have a great selection of de Sede available now; you’ll see how the leather has already developed a beautiful patina over the years (which it will continue to do) creating rich and layered pieces with history, character and quality for your home. Take a second look at the DS-47 (pictured above) – the first design to use their incredibly thick, yet soft, 6mm oxhide. Folded seams give the impression of one continuous piece of leather covering the entire piece, with distinctive skin-creases characterising the leather. Amazing.
