This weeks My Heirloom story, which celebrates our New Heirlooms Christmas campaign of limited-edition artist-made pieces and the notion of giving and receiving those very special gifts, is with one of our MT favourites, Brooke Holm! Pairing the old with the new, Brooke shares her warming story about the special pieces she has in her life from both her grandmother and sister.
It’s the only memory I have of my Nana to keep, so it’s pretty special to me.”
Can you please tell us about something special you treasure, perhaps it was handed down to you or you would like to see it passed on?
Surprisingly I don’t really have any heirlooms except for my gold ring that is my late great grandmother’s wedding band. Underneath it is a ring my sister Cydney bought me (from Modern Times actually!) So it’s kind of symbolises mixing the old with the new.
The gold ring in the picture was handed down to me by my mother. It was given to her by my Nana, her grandmother. My mum has always had rings and jewellery, and when my 3 sisters and I were all born she designated a ring of hers to keep once we turned 18. I’m not usually big on jewellery or diamonds so I love the simplicity of this one, being that it is just a thin band. It’s the only memory I have of my Nana to keep, so it’s pretty special to me.
