Steelotto is a Melbourne based brand curating a unique collection of design objects which strives to diversify Australian design by offering unique aesthetics that embrace radical design movements. Using steel as its defining material, Steelotto takes advantage of the quality of Australian steel and the value of local manufacturing. With a staff favourite interview you can read here, we ask Steelotto what they’re most treasured heirloom is in celebration of The New Heirlooms, our Christmas campaign of limited-edition artist-made pieces, and the notion of giving and receiving those very special gifts.
Can you please tell us about something special you treasure, perhaps it was handed down to you or you would like to see it passed on?
A piece that I treasure deeply is a small limited edition block of foam, produced by the Italian company Gufram for their exhibition “On the Rocks” at the famous 10 Corso Como in Milan. Edizione Limitata 36/100.
The exhibition back in 2016 presented by Galleria Carla Sozzani explored the first 50 years of the radical designs of Gufram, celebrating the most symbolic projects of recent years which revived the “legend of the brand and its mad and disruptive visions,” with an interactive space for the icons to “invade the gallery space.”
