About the work:
Making Eyes At The Void, Original Artwork by Amelia Dowling.
This work is hand embroidered by the artist in Melbourne and framed by United Measures. The work takes aim at the the darkest parts of our unconscious and finds humour and lightness in feelings of existential dread.
Amelia Dowling’s work explores concepts around vulnerability, memory, personal narrative, and the unconscious. The artist uses text and embroidery to investigate the intimate and public power that art holds to connect, protest, subvert, play, and heal. The result is a visual study of radical softness and resistance interwoven with grief and humour.
