About the work:
Michael, Ceramic Vessel by James Lemon.
This piece is part of Radiant Dreams, a group exhibition showcasing the work of more than 50 artists from the Modern Times community. Radiant Dreams invited our artists to unleash their most vibrant work, embracing colour, movement and verve. The resulting works are a buoyant collection reflecting optimism, energy and hope as we emerge from the monotonous routine of lockdown.
”The works are thrown stoneware vessels. Each is decorated abstractly with a thick and dramatic glaze application. I treat my ceramic forms as a canvas, building layers of gesture and texture, then letting the kiln fire finish them. I often draw on the transformative quality of glass under high heat to materialise suggestions of intense bodily experience,” Lemon says.
About the Artist:
James Lemon’s signature handmade works are highly tactile, playful and dynamic objects. While they are produced via traditional production methods of throwing, they are also warped to express movement and gesture.
