About the work:
Orange Windows, Original Artwork by Mark Alsweiler.
This piece is part of Of Found Activity, a solo exhibition by Mark Alsweiler.
Alsweiler’s new works boldly lean towards reductive abstraction in exchange for a previous sense of realism, yet the idiosyncratic mood remains. Architecturally inspired compositions of flat geometric shapes and a dramatic use of colour have replaced the soft colours and linear perspective of earlier work.
”I am interested in the simplifying of everyday imagery down to geometric and contrasting shapes,” Alsweiler says. “For this collection I have started working more directly from collected images and reference material that I find while doing day-to-day things. Mostly from a built environment that I can either envisage as a background composition of certain details I can repurpose.”
