Re-negotiating Erg Chebbi, Original Artwork by Silvi Glattauer
Re-negotiating Erg Chebbi, Original Artwork by Silvi Glattauer – Framed
A Photogravure (photo-etching) on Cotton Paper in a limited edition of three by Melbourne based artist Silvi Glattauer.
A founding member of ‘The Baldessin Press and Studio’, Silvi Glattauer (born in Argentina) is a practicing photo-media artist who is recognised as an authority on the Photopolymer Photogravure process as well as working with a range of other photographic processes.
These prints are made using the Photogravure process. A combination of photography and traditional etching. The hand-made print allows one to work at a slower pace, giving one the opportunity to consider and ponder the subject and intentions. The materiality of the photogravure objects echoes the preciousness of these landscapes that are being re-negotiated by our interference.
From the ongoing series, ‘Re-Negotiating The Landscape’, you are invited to detach from the beauty of the grand vista and feel the disorientation these landscapes represent.
