Dandenong Ranges, Original Painting by Andrew Pye, 2019
Snowfields in Summer I, Original Painting by Andrew Pye, 2019
An original painting by Andy Pye, in oil on board, framed in Tasmanian Oak.
Working amongst the life, sound, movement and ‘solitary’ landscape of the Australian bush, painter Andrew Pye chooses a scene of the Australian condition and captures it at face value. Whether this be the exposed trees after the rains, revealing fluorescent pink trunks or the varieties of limb arrangements and floor scenes, Andrew has a natural ability to choose a scene of the Australian bush and capture it, continuing the work of the pioneer Australian Modernists, paying homage to their motif and legacy. His technicalities of brushstroke and blocking of scenes informs his decisions on how and where to sit, and what to capture in a days study en plen air.
This recent work was painted in Olinda and magically captures the energy of the Dandenong Ranges.
