About the work:
First Snow on Mount Wellington, Original Artwork by Yan Guo.
Working primarily with acrylic paints and airbrushing techniques, Yan Guo’s approach to her art practice is conceptually driven and reflects her formal design training. With a background in urban planning and design, she has always had a fascination with constructed environments and the interactions between people and buildings; and is particularly compelled by the notion that we inhabit spaces of our own creation. Guo’s works include elements of playfulness and scale in the introduction of these themes, which are expressed through the depiction of suggestive, notional worlds.
About the Artist:
Yan Guo is a self-taught Shanghai born, Melbourne-based artist and has been creating art full time since 2020. Having worked as an urban planning consultant, and more recently graduated as an interior designer, Guo has always had a strong interest in the interaction between people and buildings. Her works seek to depict these ideas of personal constructions and conceptualise them in the form of playful, suggestive worlds that allow viewers the chance to consider their own personal constructs and experiences within the narrative of the scene.
