About the work:
Hello Darkness, My Old Friend, Original Artwork by Ria Green.
This piece is part of Chromatic Retreat, a group exhibition showcasing the work of 17 Australian artists exploring their practice within the limits of a largely achromatic palette.
“My practice explores the resonance and effect of the environment on the spiritual, emotional and physical self. Through the process of painting, with a particular focus on colour and light – or in this case darkness – my work presents abstracted representations of ephemeral moments of wonderment found in the natural world. By capturing these visceral experiences of awe, time is suspended momentarily enabling the sublime surfaces to reveal themselves. In embracing the pictorial space, my paintings offer deeper contemplation and connection to the world around,” Green says.
