About the work:
Mid Winter Blooms I, Original Artwork by Chloe Caday.
This piece is part of Radiant Dreams, a group exhibition showcasing the work of more than 50 artists from the Modern Times community. Radiant Dreams invited our artists to unleash their most vibrant work, embracing colour, movement and verve. The resulting works are a buoyant collection reflecting optimism, energy and hope as we emerge from the monotonous routine of lockdown.
“This series captures the transitioning seasons of the bush; where fallen eucalyptus flowers cover the forest floor and the acacias glistening a vibrant golden hue. Finding solace within my home in She Oaks, Victoria, each intuitive and organic motion of the brush is a direct response to my environment – exploring the intricate and rhythmic interplay of sound, light and form,” Caday says.
About the Artist:
Chloe Caday is a painter based in She Oaks, Wadawurrung, Victoria. Drawing deeply on her Filipino roots, Caday explores her relationship to the land and acknowledges the ability of the landscape to hold forgotten histories, inspire stories, and inform and shape culture. Working primarily outdoors allows Caday to directly experience and absorb her environment, which then begins her process of re-interpreting the landscape. Caday’s use of gestural mark making and responding to and mimicking the movement and sound of the landscapes in which she paints is a central technique to her practice.
