Missletoes Bird Front, Original Artwork by Silvi Glattauer – Framed
A Photogravure with Chine Colle (Photo-etching) by Melbourne based artist Silvi Glattauer, in an edition of 20, framed in black Tasmanian Oak.
A founding member of ‘The Baldessin Press and Studio’, Silvi Glattauer (born in Argentina) is a practicing photo-media artist who is recognised as an authority on the Photopolymer Photogravure process as well as working with a range of other photographic processes.
Her images are about beauty as felt by the sense of sight and touch. Silvi’s approach is to collect, to archive, to classify and to record. Her narratives are strongly related to storyboards of time and place with a connecting thread between materiality, object and preciousness.
Within this work, the death of a Mistletoe bird and Long Eared bat allowed Silvi to examine them with a critical gaze and deep attention. The extreme beauty exposes itself in all the fine details, revealing themselves through analysis of these tiny creatures.
