About the work:
Rock Paper Scissors, Original Painting by Bec Smith.
This piece is part of Talismans, Rafts, Mementos: a group exhibition showcasing the work of the entire community of Modern Times artists. Throughout 2020 artists used their practice to make sense of what was happening, and this show celebrates this rich vein of creative output.
“‘This work is a humble homage to the ordinary, and the everyday. Somehow the very simple, the predictable and even the mundane keeps us tethered to the earth, to our sanity and to one another,” says Bec.
About the Artist:
Through her work as an Experience Designer (UX Designer), Bec Smith investigates and documents other people’s thoughts, emotions and circumstances so that their needs are translated into an intuitive digital experience. Her art follows the same pattern and her paintings are realisations of actual, and idealised situations. But whether an exchange, an emotion, or an environment, her paintings expose a particular moment in time for how she experienced it.
