About the work:
Then Mine, Original Artwork by Libby Haines.
This piece is part of Radiant Dreams, a group exhibition showcasing the work of more than 50 artists from the Modern Times community. Radiant Dreams invited our artists to unleash their most vibrant work, embracing colour, movement and verve. The resulting works are a buoyant collection reflecting optimism, energy and hope as we emerge from the monotonous routine of lockdown.
”For the past two years the world has been in a state of turmoil, and for Melbournians in particular, the majority of that has been spent inside. Helplessness and despair have felt pretty universal during this time, so for me, finding small joys wherever I can has been essential to my mental survival. Painting has played a huge role in providing me with escapism and optimism at a time when it felt like there wasn’t a lot to look forward to,” Haines says.
”For my pieces in Radiant Dreams, I wanted to capture the intimacy and joy that comes from spending time in the company of someone you adore, making each other laugh, sharing a meal and a drink and losing hours without care. I wanted to pieces to radiate celebration and familiarity, the magic that comes when we can be together.”
