Gûsti in Translucent Orange Alabaster with Black Granite Base by Carol Crawford.

Carol Crawford is a sculptor based in Sydney. She is recognised for her organic interlocking feminine forms, realised in a variety of materials including alabaster, marble, soapstone, bronze and plaster.

This work was created in response to Modern Times’ exhibition Transcendence.

“The conversation I had while creating Gûsti was a very slow and considered one. I wanted to stay true to her essence and create a form that conveyed her transcendent nature, while also valuing the unique piece of stone that she was created from,” Carol says.

This event is part of Melbourne Design Week 2020, an initiative of the Victorian Government in collaboration with the NGV. Visit our showroom to view the exhibition from March 12 – 22.
