Connie Augoustinos is an Adelaide based maker creating ceramic sculptural vessels and objects reminiscent of ritualistic artefacts. She undertook a Bachelor of Visual Art, specialising in Ceramics at the University of South Australia, then went on to complete the two-year associate training program at JamFactory where her studio now resides. Her work has been acquired by the Art Gallery of South Australia and she has recently been on a residency on the Island of Skopelos in Greece.
With an intuitive making process and a nod to her Hellenic heritage, Connie’s work considers a diversity of influences. Ranging from origin stories to femininity and the natural world. Her practise predominantly uses coil hand building and pinching techniques. The slow process of handmade is reflected in the product – each piece is unique, imbued with patience and meaning.
