Liesl Pfeffer is a visual artist working primarily with photography, sculpture and installation. Her art practice is a material exploration of photography in an era of digitalisation, using the darkroom and studio as sites for experimentation. Originally from Brisbane, Liesl currently lives between New York and Melbourne. She has a Bachelor of Photography from the Queensland College of Art and a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) from Monash University.
Liesl has exhibited widely in Australia, France, Germany and the USA since 2005, including solo exhibitions at c3 contemporary art space and Kings ARI in Melbourne and the Queensland Centre for Photography in Brisbane. Her recent group exhibitions include SPRING/BREAK Art Fair, Ortega y Gasset Projects, Trestle Projects and Chashama (all New York). Liesl has attended international artist residencies including Vermont Studio Center, The Banff Centre and The Wassaic Project. Her artistic projects have been funded by grants from the American Australian Association’s Dame Joan Sutherland Fund and Copyright Agency’s Creative Individuals Career Fund.
