The Lotus armchair by Rob Parry is arguably one of the most iconic mid-century Dutch pieces. Parry is still recognised today in the realm of Dutch modernism for his innovative use of new techniques and materials. His wide range of work spanned industrial design, typography, interior design, and architecture.
Designed in 1952 for manufacturer Gelderland, the Lotus epitomises Dutch sophistication and functionalism. And comfort is front of mind – the angular form creates a deep nest into which you can settle, and the slender armrests and padded headrest offer extra comfort. This model is the high-back design, with a teak and nickel-plated frame, and rosewood armrests. Enjoy an important piece of Dutch design history with the Lotus armchair.
