Vico Magistretti designed the Model Vicario Armchair for Artemide in 1972 and it’s still as captivating today as the era in which it was created. Magistretti’s pieces stand the test of time thanks to his endlessly innovative and elegant approach design. The Vicario is made from one piece of moulded polyester; the backrest sits at a slight angle and the seat is low to the floor so the overall aesthetic – and the feeling when sitting in it – is relaxed. This piece is held in permanent collections of leading galleries around the world, including MoMA in New York and the NGV in Melbourne, Australia – testament to how wide reaching and highly regarded it is.
