Bruno Mathsson was a self-taught designer and architect and his father, Karl, was a fourth-generation cabinetmaker. Inspired by the functionalist movement, Mathsson’s furniture designs experimented with curves and height and were driven by ergonomics and function.
His iconic Pernilla lounge chair is an incredible vintage piece. It was a design that evolved over many years and many iterations. The first version was designed in 1944 and this is an improved version designed for DUX in 1969 upholstered in mid tan leather with a lovely patina. The continuous curves are stunning from every angle; this piece features a steam-bent beech frame, original upholstery, and headrest with adjustable straps. The curves flow effortlessly into the matching footstool which completes the piece. Overall, it’s a designer chair you’ll enjoy sinking into at the end of each day!
