Day Bed by Borge Mogensen in Oak, 1960s, Denmark
Known as ‘the people’s designer’; Borge Mogensen’s work is known for its calming minimalism and functionality. The idea of going back to basics, eschewing excessive notions and embracing human-centred design was at the very heart of his approach. This daybed was designed in the 1960s and it certainly hits the mark for timeless, simple and elegant design. Some designs feature a backrest however this piece is the base only. Compromised of a slatted oak frame, an original spring mattress, refurbished and finished with new Instyle fabric upholstery. It’s been lovingly restored and in great condition, and would be a valuable addition to any modern house. Use as a casual sofa or daybed for lounging in style in a quiet spot at home. It’s also very generous in size at almost 2m wide, so stretch out and enjoy.
