About the piece:
We’re incredibly excited to present the Model 595 Sesann Sofa designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina in 1970. It’s a piece with as much allure today as the day it was created. The design cleverly and elegantly uses structural tubular steel as the framework, which wraps around the voluminous cushions, sculpting the curvaceous body into its instantly recognisable and enticing form.
Newly reupholstered in premium grade Atelier Instyle velvet and restored to a tee by our restoration team here in Melbourne, this piece is in exceptional condition and a rare vintage find. We love the warm amber tones of the velvet against the striking tubular steel frame – it’s a stunning combination that’ll continuously surprise and bring joy to your home.
About the Designer:
Frattini worked closely with the Italian master of design, Gio Ponti, before opening his own studio in Milan in the 1950s and is considered one of the leading figures of the Italian design movement of the 20th Century. He is remembered for his holistic and elegant approach to design, and the Sesann series is among his most sought-after collections.
