This console was designed by Bbpr for Olivetti in the 1960s in Italy. There’s considerable history behind this piece thanks to the designers. Bbpr was an architectural partnership founded in Milan in 1932 by Gian Luigi Banfi, Lodovico Barbiano di Belgiojoso, Enrico Peressutti and Ernesto Nathan Rogers. This console was part of their Arco furnishing series and is one of their famed designs. Made from a black painted metal base and wood finish bakelite top – it’s an elegant and intriguing piece. Notice it’s marked ‘Olivetti’ on the underside of the table top. You could use this piece as a tall table in your hallway, or along a wall in your formal dining room. Either way, it’s a lovely piece of Italian design history.
