This table is a masterpiece designed by one of the most prolific figures in architecture and design throughout the 20th Century, Le Corbusier. The Model LC6 Dining Table, which was launched by Cassina at the 1929 Salon d’Automne in Paris, is an exquisite piece of design history; one to be used, admired and enjoyed daily. The table is characterised by the distinction between the top and base – they were designed to be definitively separate parts, but to speak to each other to form a harmonious overall design. The base takes cues from the oval profiles used in aeronautical design to maintain the distance between the wings of biplanes – the side profile is a thing of beauty! This piece, manufactured in the 1990s, features a black steel base and textured glass top. You’ll also find the original makers mark citing Cassina and Le Corbusier on the underside (see images). Use as a dining table or as a striking desk for an incredibly cool office.
