Paul Kingma was a Dutch artist renowned for his Brutalist-style coffee tables made between the 1960s – 80s. All of his tables incorporate pieces of exotic stones, concrete, slate, brass, bronze, fossils, foraged materials and more – gathered by Kingma during his trips around the world. Each piece is unique and the tables from this collection – known as the Kingma or Tableaux Series – are highly sought-after today.
This piece is a beautiful and elegant realisation of a Brutalist Kingma design. Compared to his other coffee tables, this one sits slightly higher, standing on taller, slimmer legs, giving a more graceful slant to an otherwise brutal aesthetic. The top is particularly intricate and detailed, featuring a mosaic of slate as well as brass inlay and an offset circular detail. All features to admire while you sit around this coffee table!
