Pink and Green Vessel with Pink Melt + Gold Chunks in Stoneware by Luke Ryan O’Connor.

Luke Ryan O’Connor is a Sydney based artist who works primarily in the ceramic medium. Within his work the Vessel form is used as a site of experimentation.

Conceptually his practice plays to notions of queer adversity, to celebrating scars and dissociating enhancement from conventional ideals of perfection. Bright artificial looking colours are paired with the earthy medium, broken chunks of clay are embellished in platinum, and their surfaces proudly parade the physical making process.
