About the work:
Ripple Vase Yellow in Crackle Glaze Stoneware by Luke Ryan O’Connor
This work is part of Useful Treasures / Treasured Useless a collection of new and exclusive artist-made pieces that focus on one of two diametric concepts useful treasures and the treasured useless. Objects range from the truly functional, treasures to hold your treasures, to simply treasures to behold.
About the Artist:
Luke Ryan O’Connor is a Sydney based artist who works primarily in the ceramic medium. Within his work the Vessel form is used as a site of experimentation. Approaching making in a playful manner, his sculptures incorporate a combination of throwing on the potter’s wheel, coiled hand building, as well as haphazard clay additions. While referencing the utilitarian language embedded in the history of ceramics, the work remains formally and functionally ambiguous.
