Austrian born Katarina Wells works from her home studio on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Most of her pieces ‘grow’ slowly over a period of up to a week; a process that allows her to step back and observe where a piece intends to go. Raw oxides and porcelain slip are used on most of her works, a treatment that heroes the textured and tactile surface of the clay. She is drawn to organic sculptural forms, finding inspiration in the natural beauty that surrounds her.
