Peruvian and Australian Shell and Rock Vessel in Ceramic by Madeleine Thornton-Smith.

Madeleine Thornton-Smith is a Melbourne based artist with training in painting and ceramics. Her work questions where distinct mediums end and others begin; she has a particular interest in challenging the archetypes of the vessel, frame, plinth and canvas, interrogating material hierarchies and raising questions about the status and value of ceramics, art and craft.

Madeleine’s work is purely sculptural and not intended for use with wet arrangements.
