Feygel Sculpture in Bardiglio Alabaster on a Hardwood Base by Carol Crawford

Feygel Sculpture in Bardiglio Alabaster on a Hardwood Base by Carol Crawford.

Carol Lehrer Crawford is an artist practicing in Sydney, Australia. She works interpretively, and is recognised for her organic interlocking feminine forms.

“Common to all sculptures is that they are all an expression of my inner being. They are created as ‘stream of consciousness’ sculptures and are feminine in nature. They all evoke nurturing, soothing and love – they have no hard edges – nothing is measured or perfect. There is beauty in their imperfection, and their imperfections are invocative of what life is all about!”

“Feygel was created last year (2018) from a nodule of bardiglio alabaster – on first appearance she looks like she has varicose veins galore, however, it is her strength of character which sets her apart from many of her peers. The meaning of Feygel in Yiddish means ‘old woman’, and I felt this was an apt name for such a small sculpture with a strong character.”
