Golden Dao, Ceramic Sculpture by Yen Qin, Stoneware, Terracotta, Glaze, Red Iron Oxide and Copper Lustre, 180 x 150 x 150mm, 2022
About the work:
Golden Dao, Ceramic Sculpture by Yen Qin.
Combining hand-manipulated organic shapes with centuries-old Chinese ceramic forms and complex surface treatments, Yen Qin’s works are a result of a slow, considered and heartfelt dialogue between artist and materials that heighten our sense of imagination.
This work was created by repeated application of glaze, built up between two firings. This method means the final product is unknown until the final firing, and it cannot be replicated.
