About the work:
Golden Tiger, Flared Vessel by Yen Qin.
Combining hand-manipulated organic shapes with centuries-old Chinese ceramic forms and complex surface treatments, Yen Qin’s works are a result of a slow, considered and heartfelt dialogue between artist and materials that heighten our sense of imagination.
Yen Qin’s forms begin as perfect forms thrown on the potter’s wheel, inspired by centuries old Chinese ceramics, which and then hand manipulated, resulting in softly warped, organic forms which represent her personal exploration of her heritage.
