J4 Side Table 1 in Tasmanian Blackwood and Acrylic by James Howe.

The J4 tables in timber and acrylic explore the interplay of light and shadow. The textured surfaces and variation in opacity between the timber and acrylic are designed to draw maximum attention to the ways in which light is reflected, blocked and absorbed, lending it visual body.

Exhibited at Melbourne Design Fair 2022.

About the Designer:

James Howe is a furniture and lighting designer from Adelaide, drawing inspiration from what he observes in nature, city landscapes and utilitarian man-made objects. His pieces are textual, tactile, imbued with a lightness and sophistication of form. He has been recognised in a number of design awards, including being named one of six finalists in the 2017 Australian Furniture Design Award.
